Installation instructions auto glass

When the glass of your vehicle is damaged, it is important to repair quickly and effectively so you can drive your vehicle safely and comfortably. There are many different glass parts in a vehicle that can be broken. Fortunately, once you learn how to replace one piece, the same basic process applies to the installation of any additional auto glass.

Instructions:

Front or rear glass

  • Identify the type of adhesive and glass for your car. Call a glass retail store and tell them the year, make and model of your vehicle in addition to the specific piece of glass breaking. Alternatively, ask your car dealer or mechanic to the type and measurements of glass that works best for your vehicle. Also ask the dealer the best adhesive for weather conditions in your area. With new cars in mild climates, for example, a urethane adhesive is used and can almost always buy stores in most cars.
  • Buy glass and glue. Buy the exact glass and adhesive recommended by the distributor, dealer or other in glass distributor in your area.
  • Cover the inside of the car with a sheet or a protective curtain. Be sure to cover all areas that could potentially come into contact with pieces of broken glass.
  • Remove the broken glass, the adhesive and the wiper of the vehicle. Wear gloves and a straight edge to gently remove pieces of broken glass and adhesive existing vehicle. If the windshield is being replaced, remove the wiper loosening screws with a screwdriver cleaners.
  • Pull glass packaging and remove dirt and debris that has accumulated in the area around the cup with a brush and a cleaning solution purpose.
  • Seal the area around the glass cup with sealant, then install the package on top of this layer of sealant.
  • Establish the new glass into the slot of the Board. Continue around the perimeter of the glass, throwing packing up and over the outer edge as you go. Use your fingers and a plastic tool for auto glass with flat edges for installing the board. This tool can be purchased at your local automotive store.
  • Apply a thin line of glue around the outside edge of the glass below the Board. Remove any additional adhesive with a razor blade. The adhesive will be dry and ready for use within 90 minutes of application.

Installing side window

Lower the window all the way. Remove the negative battery cable car – and the cable away from the battery as possible – if the windows are electric. Grab the strip on the outer edge of the door and remove it.

Remove the screws from the door panel and pull the panel up to release it from the retaining clips. Use a vacuum and hands (while wearing gloves) to remove all the pieces of glass inside the door panel.

Install the new window glass sliding down the door. Use a window regulator for glass pin in place. Windows can be purchased at your local automotive store. Putting together the sliding door panel back in place and tighten the screws.
