Instructions for removing the windshield

Breaking the Seal

If you are removing the front windshield, remove the rearview mirror and windshield removing the screws. Next is the metal or plastic outer seat if your car has one, helping to keep the glass in place. This requires an adjustment of the special removal tool (any auto shop should have one) that fits below the rim so that catch and release the clamp. Place a towel over the glass to prevent the tool you use glass scratch.

You may also need to remove several screws that secure the cover with a Phillips screwdriver. The following is the rubber seal. Check the status of the board. If it is dry and cracked, you cannot use again, means that you can cut through it (and have a replacement gasket when installing the new glass).

Carefully insert the blade of a knife on the board, careful not to hit the glass to dive through the gum. Cut all the way along the edge of the cup to the starting point. If the gasket is in good condition, however, can remove the glass remains intact. Carry a big stick through the seal to break the adhesive seal; this is only necessary in the seal manufacturer.

Push the glass

The windshield should be pushed from inside the car, and need the help of another person. Sitting on one of the seats, put the foot and the heavy hand against the glass. Push the window glass with both feet and stick. Do not put in the glass. Be very careful if glass is broken, keep your feet and stick away from the crack as possible.

The assistant must be placed on top of the hood, ready to take the cup to jump out the window. If the seal is intact and in good condition, remove the glass so you can install the new glass. In most cases, it is best to get a new board. If the seal is broken, the outer edge is probably still attached to the edge of the window, remove the remaining piece of the window. Be sure to clean the edges before installing the new glass.
