How to replace classic auto glass

Classic auto glass replacement is the same as the modern replacement auto glass, as these cars have some of the basic components of modern cars. The only challenge for replacement auto glass is that you should find a distributor body shop sells specialty glass for specific car and model vintage. Replacement of glass from side to side in a vintage pattern can be tricky, but with a few tools can be done without having to visit a body shop.

Explanation

Wear safety glasses and gloves useful for protection against the dangers of glass. Apply canvas inside the vehicle to cover the exposed upholstery.

Remove the screws from the door panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Slide a spatula or a cutting tool under the edge of the panel to lift the panel and remove the four corner fasteners.

Peel off the black strip that holds the waterproofing shield inside the panel and remove the shield door carefully. Set aside.

If the glass is still intact, breaking the glass with a hammer from inside the vehicle. Remove any pieces of broken glass from inside the panel and vacuum small glass fragments from inside the panel with a vacuum cleaner.

If necessary, use an adjustable wrench to remove the screw that holds the handle within the threshold window. Place the new glass within the window regulator bracket until you cannot push down further. Use the adjustable wrench to refit the window crank screw nut in place.

Reapply strip weather ability back along the window frame. Apply a thin bead of sealant on the strip urethane weather ability to accede to the panel of the car window safely.

Replace all components of the door panel that have been previously removed. Re-staple waterproofing shield in place before reinstalling the door panel.
